I’ve gone freelance since 2006, if I am not mistaken. My dad was totally against it. Mine was, and still is, the biggest income in the family. I was, still is, sending a sibling to school. If I suddenly quit the corporate world, we might find ourselves facing a drought of some kind.
But I took the risk. For the first time in my life, I listened to my gut. It was time to quit the corporate world, even temporarily. I did and I believe I can now say that it paid off!
I’ve gone freelance and I found happiness and joy in my work. Finally, I’ve found the perfect balance in my day and night. I am actually a nocturnal person. Just imagine what happened to me when I was forced to go to work at 8 in the morning… chaos in my system! I was almost always late for work. Normal sleep time for me is between 3 and 4 in the morning. If I wanted to go to work on time, I had to wake up around half past 5. Since I couldn’t, I was tardy all the time! Since I’ve gone freelance, my work schedule is always in between those hours I am more efficient and effective. No more working forcibly on hours I would rather use in sleep.
Listen to your gut. That’s what I will advise you if you are planning to follow my lead. Listen to your gut and talk your plans through with your family. It’s for the best.

Soul sisters

I have been friends with three great ladies for the past 18 years and counting. These girls are friends from high school. They’ve been in and out of my life and I with them. For more than a year now, we regularly see each other over dinners and coffees. I was just thinking the other night that as soon as I saved enough money, I will get them touch screen laptops so that we can continue keeping in touch even if there is not enough time to go to a meet up. We can connect to the net and see each other online. Chat. Skype. Facebook.
I love seeing them and having girl talks with them. I pray that we continue being friends for the rest of our lives. They are my soul sisters and I don’t want to lose them like I did the others.

My former boss

I am close to a former boss of mine. He was the biggest terror in that part of the city but when it comes to people he considers family, he becomes the teddy bear that he actually is. I remember one time when he was about to reprimand me for being on leave the previous day, he asked for the reason why and I told him it’s because it’s red letter day for Chinese people. He is one. He just shook his head and laughed. My co-workers were amazed that I wasn’t reprimanded at all! He hated people being on leave just because.
I miss him. Last time I talked to him, he plans to get hair loss treatment. He hates the receding hairline. His sons are now old enough and living on their own. He is left with the youngest one and his wife in a mansion. He’s always treated me as the daughter he never had so I am privy to his family life.
He suggested that I have dinner with them. I guess he misses me, too.

Bugging at work

My co-worker Diana kept bugging me to help her find the best weight loss supplement in the market today. I told her she can go search online but she doesn’t rely too much on her skills to find the best of the best.
I think I will spend this coming weekend to help her out, so as to stop her from bugging me at work anymore. She does that all the time and when I am trying to beat a deadline! I wouldn’t want the boss to have a reason to reprimand me now that I am gunning to get the position to be vacated by one of the senior managers.

Weird me and Notepad

I admit I am weird. I admit as much. What can I say? I’ve been like this since I was a little kid. I have a thing for a lot of stuff. Keyboard sounds, coffee mugs, certain positions of things on my desk, the angle of my chair and desk, the grainy feel of dust, and a whole lot more!
Plus, did I tell you that for some reason I can write better on a Notepad? Yup, the Notepad which is a basic tool included in an Office software.
So here I am writing this post in a Notepad and have I mentioned already that I was able to write a very lost essay about my brother using this tool?

Lyn told me that she will order a custom laptop for herself. She has specific requirements for it. You know, memory, capacity, video and audio quality, and all that. She wants her laptop customized for her needs.
She uses different software. So memory is big for her. Another thing is that she uses a movie maker. The video and audio quality should be the best. That’s why she wants a custom laptop. If she will just buy a regular one, she doesn’t think she can find all her requirements in one single unit.

I know for a fact that Genevieve is drinking slimming tablets. She’s been trying to lose weight the natural way for the past two years. I guess she got fed up so she started researching about slimming aids and all that.
There is already a visible result to her efforts. She’s lost weight. You can tell by the clothes she wears. She still wears her old clothes and you can tell it’s big on her already.
I am sure that if someone pointed this out to Genevieve, she will squeal with delight!

Stress and exhaustion

She goes to work at night. Her job is stressful and she would always go home exhausted, mind and body. No wonder she is having one skin breakout after another! It’s the result of all that stress and exhaustion. She now resorted to applying acne cream to her face before she hits the bed.
Stress is not good. It can give you acne. It can also give you all kinds of sickness. She knows that. She will have to find a new job soon.

I bought a new journal. A diary actually. But it’s so hard to write in it because it’s so cute!
I love notebooks, journals, diaries, and anything resembling a cute notebook. When I see one, I can’t help but buy it. That’s how I am.
Those who are close to me often tease me about my love for notebooks. When they see a new one on my desk, they know right away that I just had to buy it that’s why I have it. I’m pretty predictable that way hehe

She is determined to become that woman in the bikini. You know, the drop dead gorgeous and sexy one! She will get some diet aids like adapexin. She is also working with a gym buddy. She wants to be as sexy as she can be before their company outing. The whole team will be going on a world-class resort.
She can already see her co-workers’ eyes bulging from surprise when they see her in her bikini. She’s always been a chubby girl but with all the work she’s put into making her body toned and lose fat…
She can’t wait to see their reactions to her new body!

I think I’ll get one those cheap desktop computers that I found online. I need it for my brother. Why the cheap one? Well, I don’t have a budget for a desktop actually but since my brother needs one, I need to go and get one for him.
The cheap one will do for now.
But soon, I will get him one of those branded ones. And a laptop instead of a desktop. He needs it for when he goes out of the house to do his projects at his classmate’s place which he often does now.
