A personal checking account

I maintain two checking accounts , one for my personal expenses and one that I share with my mom. What I don’t like with two checking accounts is that I have to monitor two accounts instead of one. I could have opened a power checking account but I don’t really know if I can come up with the daily maintaining balance that the bank is asking from me. That would be too much. I could already invest that in short-term money market placements and earn bigger interest than the one it will earn just sitting there in the account.

Recently, a friend of mine told me about a WaMu personal checking account. It is the newest offer from WaMu and she said that it comes with free checks, free check safekeeping, and free wire transfers. I would love to apply for one but I need to know if I can combine the two current ones that I have. Will it be beneficial for me if I do that? There is also a Platinum Checking, WaMu’s interest checking account. It comes with free bank checks and money orders, and free Identity Theft Services that no other competitors offer. One can access their money with a Debit MasterCard and at thousands of WaMu’s free ATMs.

Interested? Come on, let’s check it out at WaMu.com now.

Dinner with old friends

I have been missing my high school friends so much these days. My high school friends are the ones that really stuck with me through thick and thin. They were with me through all the tough times in my life. We normally see each other from time to time but because a number of my friends got married, gave birth, and relocated, we were not able to meet as often as before. So I am thinking of getting us together, a simple dinner party, where we can catch up on the events that happened in our lives.

Since my friend, Rob, lives in a condo unit that is in the middle of the cities we all live in, I thought of using his place for the dinner party. He is okay with the idea. He is quite excited about it, in fact, because he could now show off his newly renovated unit plus he can show his new born son to all of us. I am also thrilled with the idea of seeing my godson.

There is only one problem that I have. I want the dinner party to be a simple one yet I don’t want it to be the usual one that we have. I want it to be extra special, what with the new born kids to be in attendance plus the better halves. Any ideas? I believe Celebrations.com has a lot of party ideas for a dinner party for me. I will go check it out now.

Any idea for an engagement party?

What would you suggest as a great party idea for an engagement party? Care to help me come up with one?

You see, my best friend just got engaged last week. Since I will be the maid of honor, I am tasked to come up with a great party idea. It is hard for me since I don’t really plan these sort of parties. If it’s birthdays, I would have come up with a lot. This is really a challenge to me because I have never attended an engagement party yet. I know what to prepare when it comes to shower parties. I even helped a guy friend of mine when he was tasked to take care of his friend’s stag party. But an engagement party? Now, that is entirely new to me. Because of this, it would be a really big help if I can get some professional advice.

Thank goodness there’s Celebrations.com, a web site put up to dish out party ideas and suggestions for people who need it. And I definitely need some suggestions right now. So please excuse me as I head on over to Celebrations.com now. I will be asking for help from expert party planners. You can also visit Celebrations.com if you need some party ideas yourself.

Birthday bash

My cousin will be having her 30th birthday party in just a few days from now. It will be a simple party where only family and a few friends are invited. But since it will be a milestone for her, we in the family are making it a big deal. I want to be able to contribute something to the party. Since finances is not something I have at my disposal, I would rather contribute suggestions on how it will turn out really great for the birthday celebrator and the guests.

The ideas that I have are from Celebrations.com, a web site that is dedicated to giving out ideas for party planning. It would be really great to be able to give back to the person who is giving us a lot more. I think I will suggest party favors. And I might even ask other cousins if we could chip in and take care of the party favors ourselves. Great idea, isn’t it? Now what would be a great party favor for a 30th birthday party anyway?

Axed!

When my friends dropped by last weekend, I learned that one of them got axed from his work because of supposed negligence on his part. He was a technician and he got burned over this hot wire that got in the way when he was fixing a cable in a client’s office.

To make a long story short, since he was indisposed for a couple of weeks because of the injury, he was fired from his job. His boss reasoned out that it will be hard for him to troubleshoot again what with his right hand having torn ligaments and such. I told him that there are Chicago personal injury lawyers that he can ask help from.

This is clearly a case of unfair dismissal. I just hope that my friend get the justice he deserve.
