Uses of a blog

There are many, actually. But here are some that I can think of:

  • Starting conversations.
  • Engaging an audience in a two-way conversation (as long as it doesn’t have to be real-time).
  • Alternative publishing sources.
  • Raising money or awareness.
  • Answering critics.
  • Announcing products.
  • Establish expertise.
  • To supplement other communications methods.
  • Team building.
  • Tech or customer support.

These are just some of the ways in which people use blogs. How about you? Do you have an interesting or unique way to use a blog?

For singles out there, finding a decent date can be quite daunting. Most of the good ones are either taken or married. It’s true. Look around and you will see the devastating truth that there are just a few good men left around you. But maybe you should look elsewhere, right?

Now what do you think of free dating? Meet You Later is a free online dating site that offers unlimited uploads of e-mail, photo, video and music. For free. This is a site where you can make friends and meet other singles from around the world. Get to know them. Meet people who have the same interests as you do. And who knows, you might be able to find a decent date in a matter of days or weeks.

How about you, what do you think of online dating?

Racism

Oct 10th, 2007 Posted in Random Thoughts | Comments off

Racism is a very sensitive issue. A lot of people are skirting the idea of discussing it publicly for fear of hurting people inadvertently. But it seems that some Hollywood writers, particularly those of the Desperate Housewives, are immune to this feelings. They openly ridiculed Filipino medical practitioners, most especially doctors, with the line delivered by the lead actress Teri Hatcher.

The exact line is…

…before we go any further, can I check those diplomas because I just wanna make sure that they’re not from some med school in the Philippines.

Can you see how they thought it funny to use another race to deliver that punch line?

A lot of bloggers have written about this issue. A lot have been asking to boycott the show and ABC. The network already apologized and much has been said about this.

Bottom line, people should always be careful in offending other people’s feelings. Everyone should know when they are crossing the line between humour and racism.
